Week one
Disaster strikes! Cross Country called off due to water logged ground!

The Team before the race.

Week Two
All systems are go!

On Thursday 17th May 2012 our cross country team took part in an annual event held at Marl Pits.  Cross Country!

Our team had practiced immensely hard before the event, we are now lucky to have our brand new fields and hills to run on in our cross country club.  After training for five weeks and running a tough course, which was not for the faint hearted, a team was put together by Mrs Welshman, Mrs Eastwood and their helpers Mrs King and Mrs Seal.

The team that was picked for the girls were: Kirsty, Jasmine, Janine, Caitlin and Jade. The team that was picked for the boys were: Kian, Jack, Sonny
Louis and Joe.  Unfortunately, the day before the race Joe broke his wrist so he was not able to compete.  The team all wish him a speedy recovery and I am sure you will join us in thinking the same.

On the day of the competition everyone was extremely nervous.  The girls were to run first, each one of us was waiting anxiously for the claxon to go off. Suddenly off we went and what a race it was! Our positions were: Kirsty 9th; Jasmine14th; Janine 30th; Caitlin 39th and Jade 57th out of roughly 80 runners.

The tired but happy team after the run - well done!

After the girls it was the boys turn, the course was same and the boys had brilliant results! The positions were: Kian 5th, Jack 14th, Sonny 16th, and Louis 17th again out of roughly 80 runners.  Mrs Welshman and Mrs Eastwood were bursting with pride and had very sore throats from all the cheering.  We all spurred each other on in a team effort whilst the others ran their race.

We are all raring to go for the final week next Thursday and we are hopeful of a good overall school position. Watch this space!!

Balloons!

by Headteacher on 12/03/2012

We have lift off!

After a somewhat last minute change of plan regarding our Balloons for World Book Day (see our “Balloons are Off” letter to read the details), Mr Jones and the children tried to see if the “Hot Air Balloon” model would lift off and take some teddies for an ‘Bird’s Eye’ view of the school.  Although we met with limited success, the children had a lot of fun and will surely remember the day!
